What ARBITORIA is
A 6-country salary, jobs, and cost-of-living comparison built on Tier 1 government primary statistics. No editorial spin. No marketing copy. Just the numbers, the source, and the date they were last updated.
1. Why this exists
Salary data online is fragmented across recruiter blogs, LinkedIn estimates, and country-specific government portals. None of them compare across borders with a consistent methodology. ARBITORIA brings the six government statistical offices (BLS, KOSIS, INSEE, INE, Statbel, MHLW) onto one page, with PPP-adjusted comparisons.
The aim is simple: before you pick a career or a country, see the real numbers from the country itself.
2. Methodology
Every page on ARBITORIA discloses five elements at the bottom: source · last updated · next update · license · trust tier. Trust tiers:
- 🟢 Tier 1 — Government primary statistics. The official labor or statistical office of the country. Used for headline numbers (averages, medians, percentiles). Examples: BLS OEWS, KOSIS, INSEE Salaires, INE EES, Statbel SES, MHLW 賃金構造基本統計調査.
- 🟡 Tier 2 — Official ministries and international bodies. Used for context and supporting data. Examples: BLS OOH, DARES, SEPE, Eurostat, OECD, ILO.
- 🟠 Tier 3 — University reports, professional bodies, big-four accounting firm surveys. Used for context and comparison only — never headline numbers.
3. The six countries
We currently cover:
- 🇺🇸 United States — Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), bls.gov
- 🇰🇷 Korea — Korean Statistical Information Service (KOSIS), kosis.kr
- 🇯🇵 Japan — Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), mhlw.go.jp
- 🇫🇷 France — Institut national de la statistique (INSEE), insee.fr
- 🇪🇸 Spain — Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), ine.es
- 🇧🇪 Belgium — Statbel (Federal Public Service Economy), statbel.fgov.be
4. Languages
The Site is published in six languages — Korean, English, French, Dutch, Spanish, Japanese — chosen to match the labor markets of the six countries. Each country page carries hreflang alternates so search engines can serve the right language to the right user.
5. Editorial independence
ARBITORIA is independently operated. Numbers come from public sources; commentary is the operator's own. Advertising via Google AdSense funds hosting and is clearly demarcated as ads — never embedded in the data tables or rankings.
We do not accept paid placements, sponsored rankings, or affiliate compensation that influences which jobs appear or how they are ranked.
6. Updates
Each country's primary statistics are released on its own schedule (BLS OEWS quarterly · KOSIS quarterly · INSEE annually · etc.). The "Next update" timestamp on each page tells you when the data is expected to be refreshed.
7. Corrections
If you spot an error — a misclassified occupation, an outdated source, a typo — please contact us. We take data accuracy seriously. Verified corrections are applied within 7 days and noted in the page's update log.
8. Contact
For corrections, partnerships, or general inquiries: contact information will be added shortly. Until then, you can reach out via the operator's GitHub at github.com/Arbitoria.
9. Tech stack
The Site is a static HTML/CSS/JS site (no backend), hosted on Cloudflare Pages, with i18n via a single shared dictionary. Code is open and the build process is documented. No tracking pixels beyond the disclosed third-party services in our Privacy Policy.
